The city of Los Angeles recently named a stretch of Rodeo Road in honor of 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. An “Obama Boulevard Naming Ceremony Street Festival” was held on Saturday, May 4th, including celebrity guests BJ the Chicago Kid, Kurupt, and Doug E. Fresh among others.

Obama Boulevard intersects Martin Luther King Boulevard in the historic Baldwin Hills neighborhood. It will serve as an added leg to the “Presidential Row”, which already includes streets named in honor of U.S. Presidents Washington, Adams, and Jefferson.

Los Angeles City Council approved the name change in August of 2018, a motion that was introduced by Council President Herb Wesson.

“For every child who will drive down this street and see the name of the first black President of our country, this boulevard will serve as a physical reminder that no goal is out of reach and that no dream is too big.
