Upstairs at The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center…kinda blurry I know
IT happened the other morning….
I woke up with the birds, opened the window of my bedroom, and in swept a promising August wind that relaxed every bit of frustration summer had caused me. I hate heat. Hate it.
And in that moment, the smell and the touch of the air called to mind my fondest memories of fall: football games, first days of school, mulled wine, cashmere sweaters and weathered leaves.
Yes.
In celebration, I took a trip to one of my favorite cities in the world, and figured I’d share them with you. After spending a large portion of my vacation working for my local YMCA teaching college and career readiness to high school students I felt I deserved to relax a bit.
Enjoy!

Chinatown Ice Cream factory has been one of my favorite stops in lower Manhattan for years. Love their green tea flavor
I popped in PhoBar in Chinatown, and had a really great lunch. The vermicelli and vegetables option reminded me so much of real meat that I was…nervous. Very good nonetheless. They also have a noodle bar and very, VERY nicely designed bathrooms. I assume this “Crazy Rich Broth neon sign is a play on the film “Crazy Rich Asians”, which I still haven’t seen….
Be bright, sunny and positive. Spread seeds of happiness. Rise, shine, and hold your head high.
With Love,
